ChefCheck Terms of Service

Effective 2026-11-07

These terms cover the ChefCheck app for Android, published by ByteHaven Studios LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("we", "us"). They're a contract between you and us. You accept them when you agree to them where the app or the store asks you to, or by installing or using the app. If you don't accept them, don't use the app.

What the app does

ChefCheck is an offline food-safety logbook. It helps you record temperatures, checks and corrective actions, and keeps them on your device.

Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for as long as you follow these terms and the rules of the store you got it from.

The app, including its code, design, text, images and sound, belongs to us or to the people who license it to us. Open-source components keep their own licences, and those licences win over these terms for those components. Their notices are in the app. A software licence covers the software only: it gives no rights in anyone's name or trademarks.

You may not sell, rent or redistribute the app, remove its notices, or use it to break the law or anyone else's rights. You may not reverse engineer it, except where the law lets you and that right can't be given up.

Your content and your data

What you put into the app or work on with it stays yours, and you're responsible for having the right to use it. Keep your own copies of anything that matters.

How the app handles information is explained in the privacy policy, which is separate from these terms.

Purchases and refunds

Logging is free. An optional Pro unlock is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.

Purchases are processed by the store through which you obtained the app. That store takes the payment and shows you the price, and we don't see your card details. Refund requests are generally handled through that store, subject to its applicable policies and any rights you may have under applicable law. Contact us if you need assistance with a purchase.

  • Google Play: request a refund through Google Play. Google's refund policy applies.

A purchase is tied to the store account you made it with. Use that same account to restore it on another device.

A one-time purchase unlocks the paid features included in the app at the time of purchase. It isn't a subscription, and it doesn't guarantee future features, updates or services.

We may change what's in the free and paid parts of future versions. If we do, what you've already bought keeps working as described when you bought it, for as long as we keep offering the app.

Before you rely on ChefCheck

Not legal or regulatory advice, and no guarantee at inspection. ChefCheck is a record-keeping tool. Using it doesn't guarantee you'll pass an inspection or comply with any food-safety law. Preset temperature ranges and checklists are general starting points and may not match the rules where you are, so confirm them with your local food-safety authority. You're responsible for how your business runs and for the accuracy of your records.

Your records live on your device. If you lose the device or delete the app without a backup, we can't get them back.

No warranty

We build the app with care and we fix what we can, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the app will run without errors or interruption, or that it will work with every device.

Updates are up to us. We may change or stop offering the app at any time.

Limit on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits or business, even if we were told it might happen. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the greater of what you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that can't legally be limited or excluded. That includes fraud and, where the law says so, death or personal injury caused by negligence, gross negligence and intentional misconduct. Your mandatory consumer rights and statutory remedies stay in place.

Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in these terms takes away a right the law gives you that can't be waived.

If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you keep every mandatory protection of the law of your country. That includes your statutory rights where digital content isn't as described or doesn't work, and the right to bring a claim in the courts where you live. The "No warranty" and "Limit on our liability" sections apply to you only as far as that law allows. Your right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content can end once the download or use starts, but only if you gave your express consent to that at checkout, acknowledged that you would lose the right, and got confirmation of it. Any consent, acknowledgment and confirmation the law requires has to be given in the purchase process. These terms don't waive the right on their own.

The same applies to any other country whose consumer law can't be excluded by contract.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Wyoming, unless the section above gives you the right to go to court where you live. Whatever applies to you, write to us first. Most problems get solved that way.

Ending these terms

You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app. If you seriously break these terms we may end your licence, and then you must stop using the app. The sections on liability, consumer rights and governing law continue after that.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always at this address, with its effective date at the top. If a change matters, we'll say so on that page before it takes effect, and through the app where that's reasonably possible. Changes don't apply retroactively: they don't affect purchases you've already made or claims that arose under earlier terms. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, stop using it.

If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
